Paula Patton joins 'Law & Order: Special Victims Unit'
www.examiner.com/x-21799-African-American-Entertainment-Examiner~y2010m7d21-Paula-Patton-joins-Law--Order-Special-Victims-UnitJuly 21st, 2010 Paula Patton, who just welcomed her first child in April and co-starred in the 2009 film "Precious," will soon appear in a multi-episode arc on NBC's "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit." Patton will play new Assistant District Attorney Mikka Von. "When I saw Paula Patton give that terrific performance in the multi-Oscar nominated Precious, I knew she'd be perfect for SVU's new Assistant District Attorney -- she's funny, warm and witty with a penchant for justice. And it happened. She's starting in episode five. How cool is that?" executive producer Neal Baer said. Patton, who was nominated for multiple honors including the SAG Award (ensemble), NAACP Image Award (Supporting Actress) and the Critics Choice Award (ensemble) for her role as Ms. Blu Rain in the Oscar winning film "Precious," will play a charming and savvy ADA on the 12th season of "Law & Order: SVU." Last season, Jill Scott made an appearance on long-running NBC drama, which you can view pictures of below. The new season premieres Wednesday September 22nd at 9 pm ET on NBC.

www.tvguide.com/News/Hewitt-Guest-SVU-1021225.aspxKeck's Exclusives: Jennifer Love Hewitt to Guest on Law & Order: SVUJul 30, 2010 04:05 PM ET by William Keck After whispering to ghosts and playing a masseuse in a summer TV movie, Jennifer Love Hewitt is taking on the most serious role of her career. "In our third hour, airing September 29, Jennifer will be playing a woman named Vicki who has been raped multiple times and is afraid to leave her house," Law & Order: SVU executive producer Neal Baer tells me exclusively. "One of the reasons we wanted to do this episode is because it addresses Mariska Hargitay's passion for rape kits, which can help gather evidence to convict the rapists. But for some reason these kits have been sitting around unopened in cities all over the country. Mariska, who has brought attention to the value of rape kits through her Joyful Heart Foundation, will also be shooting scenes in Los Angeles for this same episode. Since this will be the lead in to Law and Order: Los Angeles' premiere, it seems likely that Mariska's Olivia will be interacting with the new franchise's cast to help lead viewers into Dick Wolf's latest franchise. No comment from Baer on that.

Keck's Exclusives: Marcia Gay Harden Returns to SVUwww.tvguide.com/News/SVU-Marcia-Gay-Harden-1021729.aspxAug 11, 2010 11:19 AM ET by William Keck Oscar-winning actress Marcia Gay Harden, who received a 2007 Emmy Award nomination for her guest appearance as Federal Agent Dana Lewis on NBC's Law & Order: SVU, is making a return visit to the mean Manhattan streets patrolled by Detectives Stabler (Christopher Meloni) and Benson (Mariska Hargitay). Last seen in the eighth season premiere, Dana will return in the eighth episode of SVU's upcoming 12th season. Dana, fans may recall, debuted in 2005 under her alias, Star Morrison, in a disturbing case involving a white supremacist group and murdered schoolchildren. Law & Order: SVU's new season premieres Sept. 22 at 9/8c.

Exclusive: Gloria Reuben Returns to SVUwww.tvguide.com/News/Exclusive-Gloria-Reuben-1021973.aspx?rss=objectIt's the return of a familiar face and a farewell in the fourth episode of Law & Order: SVU, TV Guide Magazine has learned exclusively. First, Gloria Reuben will reprise her role as U.S. Attorney Christine Danielson from several years back and reunite with SVU chief Neal Baer, her former ER producer. "We're bringing back characters we love this season," Baer promises. In a very intense case involving child slavery, she deputizes Benson and Stabler as U.S. marshals so they can leave Manhattan, says Baer. The old friend making its farewell at the end of the episode is the familiar SVU squad room, which will become history "when all hell breaks loose." Expect a new shiny set when the show returns the next week. In real life, the show moved its production from New Jersey to New York City, due to a loss of tax breaks, which necessitated new sets being built. Episode 5 also introduces Paula Patton as the show's new ADA. "It's all things fresh," says Baer.

Christine Lahti Returns to Law & Order: SVU
www.tvguide.com/News/Christine-Lahti-SVU-1022196.aspxAug 26, 2010 11:08 AM ET by Ileane Rudolph An Oscar-nominated actress will return to Law & Order: SVU this season — but don't get nervous, it's not Sharon Stone. It's Christine Lahti, reappearing as overbearing ADA Sonya Paxton sent by the DA's office to ride herd on the SVU team. A nasty alcoholic, she butted heads with Stabler (Chris Meloni) and was eventually forced to enter rehab. Paxton reappeared in a later episode only to warn Alexandra Cabot (Stephanie March) not to trust the cops. She'll return in this season's ninth episode on a case and is supposedly all cleaned up. "She has a huge scene where she faces off with Stabler," SVU's executive producer Neal Baer tells TV Guide Magazine exclusively. Go Team Stabler!

Ask Ausiello Sept. 1st, 2010 ausiellofiles.ew.com/Question: Thanks for the awesome video of Chris and Mariska on the Emmy red carpet! Did you get any other SVU scoop there? —Jennifer
Ausiello: Not from them, no, but I did hear that Numb3rs’ David Krumholtz is about to guest in an episode. He plays an expert on fancy-pants mushrooms who’s mixed up in the same murder investigation that involves Tony, Emmy, and Golden Globe winner Rosemary Harris.

Keck's Exclusives: Law & Order: SVU Invades LO:LASept. 5th, 2010 by William Keck www.tvguide.com/News/Kecks-Exclusives-Law-1022623.aspxCrossover alert! In Law & Order: SVU's September 29 episode, Mariska Hargitay's Det. Olivia Benson leaves New York for Los Angeles, where she joins forces with Skeet Ulrich's Det. Rex Winters—the central character in the new Law & Order: Los Angeles (which debuts that night at 10/9c, on NBC). It's an issue close to Mariska's heart that brings Benson to L.A.: a case about a rape survivor (played by Jennifer Love Hewitt) who, several years earlier, submitted to an invasive exam for a rape evidence collection kit that was ignored by police. The episode took shape when a real rape survivor shared a similar scandal at a fund-raiser for Mariska's Joyful Heart Foundation, which supports survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse. "I'm so honored that the SVU writers see the value in telling this story," says Mariska. "And it's very cool how they're weaving our two shows together." With her contract expiring at the end of the season, Mariska says she's open to negotiations, as is costar Chris Meloni, who says, "We'll all have a chitchat and see what's best." But Mariska would also welcome relocating Benson to LO:LA. "I'm born and raised in L.A., so I'm definitely up for doing more," she says. "I go where the work is. My L.A. friends all want me to be on LO:LA." That includes new pal Skeet. "We could use an experienced detective," he says. "That would be fantastic!" Watch out, Stabler!
