I know of people who can turn on people on a dime if you cross them. Henry VIII had that kind of personality.

A good Movie about Henry V111 and his leaving the Catholic Church and his relationship with Sir ThomasMoore is called a Man for all Seasons. Henry was one of a kind.

I'd be interested in checking that out. The Catholic Church was brutal in the way it dealt with people it considered heretics. Henry VIII, as unpredictable as he was, did support the Protestant Reformation and he treated some of the women in his life with respect and kindness.

He supported breaking with the Catholic church to get his divorce. It did make England a more favorable atmosphere for Protestanism to grow.

That is why I admire him so much. It took real guts. If you get a chance try to see the movie A Man for All Seasons that tells Thomas's story.

There was that attitude of "You're either with us or against us" even then. I would have found it difficult to hold firm to my views, also. What a man Thomas More was!
