Thanks so much for posting this, Nikki.
I was shocked beyond belief when this news came across the TV screen while I was on vacation. My kids and their spouses had left to go to Charleston, South Carolina for dinner and I was fixing dinner for all 4 of my grands when I heard the news. I felt so sad.
I remember the Jackson 5 when they started in 1969 and then my daughter loved Michael in the 80's.
Michael broke the color barrier on MTV with his videos. Black artists were not on MTV in its beginnings and they didn't want to do anything but rock..no R&B or anything else. Michael's success with his Thriller album caused them to change their mind.
He had become a very sad and lonely man and I hope that he is finally at peace.

I agree Patti and hope so too. I grew up with Michael's music starting with Thriller in the early 80's!

I think most if not all people grew with Michael's music and that includes me of course I was a huge obessed fan of his back in the day and I don't think I ever stopped being one though in the last couple of years I'd not become so obessed with him as I once was, but I loved him as artist nonetheless and still am so shocked I didn't see it coming, but appearently some people did [family, close friends of his] I'm pay tribute to him by watching VH1, MTV and and all of the other channels that are having tributes and just listening to his music on my computer & youtube or whereever. We should be celebrating his music and not all the negitive crap. The media/press should be ashamed for the way they treated him, they tortured, no matter what you think or thought of him, celebrate his music and remember him for that..I know for some that it's hard to look beyond the music, but seriously you can't or shouldn't believe everything you read especially the tabiold stuff. Reguardless the man was a human being and should be respected. He was definitely an icon and paved the way for most if not all of the artists that are new out. The man definitely was a genuis in this own right. I don't think people realize or now they are starting the realize just how much of an impact he did have on the music industry. He'll never be able to be replace, no one could or will be able to fill his shoes he was one of kind.

I agree that the Press does a nasty job in making someone's life miserable. BUT they continue to do it.
So many radio stations played his music while we were on our way home from So. Carolina.
His music was amazing. He is one of a kind. His death reminded me of the death of Elvis in the negative stuff being said.

oh yes he's being compared a lot right now to Elvis which I'm not surprised at all by, but he was just amazingly talented and just an awesome person you can't deny that and the fact he definitely broke the racial barrier and tried so much to help become a better place and especially tried to help the children around the world the best way he could. He may have made some bad choices, but that doesn't mean his talent & music should've had to suffer and what musician or person for that matter have made mistakes...they all have at one time or another. I hate that some turned on him after all the molestion stuff came out, again don't believe you read. I don't believe he did anything to those kids, but that's my opinion and I know a lot of other people have theirs, but that's mine and I'm sticking with it and to it.

I agree about all the negativity. All that could have just been way blown out of proportion, none of us know the true story. A talented and giving man!

I agree. I feel bad how sad and lonely he seemed to become because of the Press and their constant harping on him..He is one of a kind and will be missed.

Exactly, I feel terrible for him and always did. The media tortured him it's no wonder he took drugs and was an addicted to them..I'm not saying it's right to do, but I don't blame him. Although I've heard a lot the medicination he took was for his aliments, but still.

I was just reading that 12 of MJ's fans after he died they commited suicide. I can't believe it...it's so tragic that this had to happen. Michael wouldn't want this at all, this makes his death even more upsetting, seriously some people's lives were this man and just..I don't know.

I am in shock that people would commit suicide but so much was said bad about Michel that a fan who had no other life would just break. I am not excusing their behaviour but I think it should make us all stop and think.
