You still have plenty of time. Motherhood is a hard job and waiting till it is right can never be a bad thing.

Like knowing when to punish and reward kids, raising them to be decent and compassionate people.

That isn't easy and I admire Mariska's attempts to privide August with a normal upbringing.

Not easy to do when you're in the public eye.

Speaking of late bloomers, I wonder how many of you have wondered what was wrong with you that boys had to swarm around the pretty girls in school. LOL! Now it seems that some guys like me for my intellectual ability and think I'm beautiful on the eccentric side. How weird is that?

I think that is how I felt and I'll bet Mariska did too.

While we're talking about our insecurities (I've had some about myself at some point), I remember watching the Oprah Winfrey Show and her guests were Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, who said they had parents who told them that it's okay to be intelligent and hard-working and to develop a sense of humor. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, thank you.

I agree. I think the reason Mariska's seems so down to earth is a result of her upbringing also.

Even being the child of actors has its disadvantages as well as advantages. I remember reading an interview with Rumer Willis, who said her parents raised her and her sisters well, as in they're not spoiled.

Many time the disadvantages out weigh the advantages. I think Mariska's father Mickey did a good job with her after the death of her mother.

I'd never met him, but read about him. It's not easy for any single parent to raise his or her children after the death of another parent or after a marriage falls apart. Kudos to him for stepping up, though.

My dad liked Mickey cause he came from Hungary and that is where my dad's family came from in 1913. He liked Jayne for the obvious reasons. LOL.
