Source: Wikepedia-Dann's Alma Mater honors him
On December 13, 2008 Dann received a honorary Bachelor of Arts from Eastern Michigan University from President Susan Martin and the EMU board of registrants. During the Winter 2008 Eastern Michigan Graduation Commencement on December 14, 2008 he received an honorary Doctorate of Arts from Eastern Michigan University from EMU president Susan Martin; Mr. Florek was the head speaker at this event as well.

Very nice! And nice to see his ties still at home here in Michigan. I wish I knew he was home. He grew up in the next town over from me. My bro graduated from Eastern and I think almeda has said so did her parents?

I have loved Dann since he originally began as Capt. Cragen on the original Law and Order in 1990. That he still has ties to his home state is admirable.

Wonder if he still has some family over here.
I never watched L&O but I happened across and old epi and could not believe how young Dann looked. The only other thing I have seen him in is as Mr. Slate in the Flintstones! lol

He was also in Roseann playing the Dr. who delivered Darlene's baby. He really looked young in that. Getting back to TOS, Dann was awesome in that and I also caught a couple of season ones myself. It was also awesome to see Chris Noth as a very young Det. Logan.

That's right, ladies! My parents did attend and graduate from Eastern Michigan University -- in 1969. They married a year later and became my parents the year after that. :-)

Dann Florek was super popular on TOS. When he was fired by Wolf to make way for a woman, fans were extremely upset. I was so excited to see him come back as Capt. Cragen on SVU. Wolf righted a wrong there.

Mabrouk, Dann! I'll bet his fellow cast members are psyched that he got his honorary degree.

Almeda, did your parents know him? I am not sure of Dann's time frame.

My parents graduated a year after he started his first year at EMU, so I don't know. I told my mom that Dann is an Eastern Michigan alum. I said, "Hey, Mom, here's your fellow Eastern Michigan alum."

Yes TOS stands for the original show. It is also known as The Mothership but TOS is easier to type.
