From the Los Angeles Times.
TCA Press Tour: Richard Belzer unleashes on NBC 02:24 PM PT, Jan 7 2009 NBC executives: Are your ears burning?
"Law & Order: SVU" actor Richard Belzer participated in a PBS panel today to tell colorful stories about his old friend George Carlin.
But when a journalist asked the actor-comic what he thinks of NBC's recent move to scrap all 10 p.m scripted programming to give Jay Leno a new comedy show every night at that hour, Belzer did not hold back, because, as he put it, he's got a contract that renders him untouchable.
"I just think it’s a network that’s desperate," Belzer said. "It’s the last gasp of a dying network, which can turn out to be brilliant financially. But in terms of writers, actors, producers and other people who work on shows, I think it’s a tragedy, frankly."
Belzer said he expects NBC to schedule "SVU" at 9 p.m. next fall because it's "the only hit dramatic series left on the Peathingy."

I don't think he will get in trouble. Belz tends to call it as he sees it.

Not sure what PBS show he was on, Almeda.
I am also not sure how SVU would do at 9pm as it is deals with some real adult stuff.
Richard's remarks about NBC ring true. The network is in big trouble.

makes me wonder, you're right about the 9pm slot but then again they constantly re-air at all hours.

This could be interesting with it being moved at nine. At least they are not doing it right away, but why Jay Leno? I thought he was leaving the TV business for good?

Mark Twain Award: George Carlin
My DVR tells me that Richard Belzer will be appearing on PBS, February 4th Mark Twain Award in honor of George Carlin.
This is the event where Richard made his remarks about NBC. Glad to see we can see the panel about George Carlin.

Thanks! PBS seems to be the cool station these days. This weekend they are airing a Soundstage with BB King featuring Richie Sambora. Who knew we would see our men on PBS! lol
